About Sandy Point
Sandy Point is situated at the entrance of a narrow peninsula that fronts both Waratah Bay and Shallow Inlet with its adjacent wetlands and is located at the northern end of Wilsons Promontory National Park.
The beaches fronting Waratah Bay feature wide expanses of sand and surf with the attractive backdrop of mountain peaks along Wilsons Promontory's west coast in the distance, and are popular with swimmers and surfers with the safety of a patrolled surf beach & life saving club.
On the opposite side of town is Shallow Inlet where the compacted sand allows visitors to drive their vehicles right out onto the beach and close to the water's edge. Shallow Inlet is a popular place for windsurfing, kite boarding, sailing, land boarding and buggying with breathtaking views in all directions.
Entertainment & Local Attractions – The front beaches are magnificent and great for swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, surf fishing or simply walking. Shallow Inlet provides water sport enthusiasts excellent conditions for windsurfing, kite boarding, land boarding, buggying, boating and fishing.
Visit Wilsons Promontory National Park and walk to Squeaky Beach, up Mount Oberon or the rainforests of the Lilly Pilly Gully Nature Walk.
